“You know they say the character of nation is determined by the weather? Well I can believe that.
“British weather is a big variable. That should mean people here are variable. And they are! People are what I’d call moody. Moods vary a lot. I’m not saying people are difficult. There’s a basic decency. I think people are polite but reserved.
“Get them talking about the weather, though, and everyone has something to say. Even if it’s just a few words. Talking about the weather breaks the ice. And that’s very important.”

“What would be a good picture for the British and their weather? Clouds I guess. Some clouds or sky or something – something odd enough to make you want to talk about them.”
