“I see these people around that I’ve know for years. Years and years. Since school.
“And, like, we’re not close friends. I’d call us ‘nodding-plus’ friends. A nod, sometimes a few words. Very occasionally a chat, maybe if we come across each other out walking to the shops or something. Just sometimes pausing for a few minutes on a park bench like this one.
“And you know, this Covid thing, it changes nothing. But it makes me think a bit. Think about how I like their familiar faces. I like the fact that they’re there.
“And it won’t last forever. I mean, nothing does. You’ve got to appreciate it while you can.”
