“Y’know, the last idiot who tried to ban Christmas bashes was Cromwell. Of course, people ignored his rules. Of course they did.
“They were pissed off with being skint after the civil war. They were pissed off with all the new Puritan rules. Don’t do this, don’t do that. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it. And they wanted their Christmas. So they rioted and rebelled.
“And then? And then we got the second Civil War.
“I tell you, you’d better hang on to yer holly come December.”
