(A chat over coffee in a café)
“Life? It’s odd to think like this, but life can only be valued for what it is, not for what it might be.
“I mean, think about it, a key fact about humanity is its fragility. Do what you like to protect things. You, everything you’ve done, anything you value. It can fall apart slowly. It can be wiped out, just like that. It’s all fragile. And the same’s true for everyone else who’s ever lived.
“Which you can say is sad. Maybe it is. But, it’s real.
“And I was thinking about this the other night and the only thing I came up with to add was the obvious. You need to always remember that fragility.
“It’s a fool who takes things for granted.”
